Top Newsletters to Keep You Informed and Inspired in 2025
The world’s top newsletters are read by millions of people every day.
According to StoryDoc, 95% of Gen Z, Millennials, and Gen X are signed up to receive newsletters. Among baby boomers, the figure is only slightly lower, at 84%.
Newsletters unlock a ton of information that isn’t available via search. If you’re looking to improve your performance at work, learn new skills, or pick up investment tips, newsletters are an invaluable resource. And they’re often free.
My list will take you through the world’s top newsletters by subscriber count. We’ll also look at the best email newsletters on specific topics.
Top Newsletters to Follow in 2025
I'll start with some of the most popular newsletters in the world. With a huge following, these are your must-reads:
The Morning from the New York Times - Subscribers: 17 million
The Morning, formerly known as The Morning Briefing, is a hugely popular daily newsletter sent out by the New York Times.
Given the size of its subscriber list, it has become something of a flagship for the newspaper, designed to showcase what the NYT is all about.
Led by a detailed opinion on a major story of the day, it also spotlights other current events, and links to other stories within the Times ecosystem. There’s also a Europe edition, Morning Briefing.
Daily Skimm - Subscribers: 7 million
Like a couple of other entries on this list, the Daily Skimm is essentially a news curator. But it’s one of the best.
Sent seven days a week, it hand-picks some of the key stories of the day, giving its own take on them to its 7 million subscribers. It places a particular focus on women’s issues.
Capitalizing on its success, Skimm has also launched a number of other newsletters.
Skimm Shopping is sent twice a week, Skimm Well (wellness) and Skimm Money are weekly sends, and Skimm Parenting and SKM Report (an advertising and marketing newsletter) go out once per month.

Morning Brew - Subscribers: 6 million
Morning Brew has earned its reputation as one of the best email newsletters, full stop.
It is designed to be a 5-minute digest of business news, making it one of the best newsletters for entrepreneurs. But the conversational style and varied stories make it a good, free subscription for anyone.
An accompanying daily podcast has released over 500 episodes. And a spin-off newsletter, Marketing Brew, is among the best marketing newsletters around.
Marketbeat Daily Ratings - Subscribers: 4 million
Marketbeat’s Daily Ratings newsletter is one of the best investment newsletters. With the market evolving all the time, there is a large and engaged audience keen to receive daily updates.
The free Marketbeat newsletter provides a rundown of analyst recommendations, as well as a summary of the day’s headlines.
It’s also one of the more personalized newsletters on this list. Subscribers receive news relevant to stocks on their watch lists.

1440 - Subscribers: 4 million
1440 is among the best email newsletters for current affairs. It is a daily news curator that sends out top stories, drawn from over 100 sources.
Available for free, it endeavors to report the news without bias or spin.
The name 1440 is a nod to the approximate date that the printing press was invented, a turning point in the dissemination of knowledge to the wider public.
Topics covered in 1440 have to be classed as “consequential news”, but could relate to politics, business, culture, science, or politics, among other things.

James Clear is best-known for his popular book, Atomic Habits. His weekly 3-2-1 Newsletter is geared toward a similar audience, providing food for thought when it comes to personal growth.

Hometalk - Subscribers: 2.6 million
Like its sister newsletter, Foodtalk, Hometalk essentially curates and shares the best of the user-generated content from its site. In this case, that means DIY tips and tricks.
Simple step-by-step guides and video tutorials help approximately 2.6 million subscribers to tackle home improvement.
The Hustle Daily - Subscribers: 2.6 million
The Hustle has been owned by HubSpot since 2021, when it acquired the free daily newsletter for a reported $27 million.
Since then, it has further cemented itself as one of the best newsletters for marketers and entrepreneurs alike. Its content is varied, but covers the broad spheres of startups, technology and business news.
A daily blast is sent out Monday-Friday, with more of a deep dive on a Sunday.
The Pulse - Subscribers: 2.4 million
The Pulse is a free Sunday-Friday sports newsletter sent out by The Athletic, which has been owned by the New York Times since January 2022.
It is well-positioned as one of the best email newsletters for sports fans, especially those with a broad interest in multiple different sports. Basketball and football are covered regularly, but any other major stories of the day could feature as well.
The Pulse newsletters are also available to read online once they have been sent out to subscribers.
Foodtalk Daily - Subscribers: 2.1 million
In a different niche entirely, Foodtalk Daily is all about sharing recipes.
Drawing content from its massive user-generated recipe hub, it gives its 2.1 million email subscribers daily meal suggestions.
Foodtalk was spun out of Hometalk, a DIY community that features elsewhere on this list.
